It’s people like you that our country USA isn’t really that good at football, the farthest we have ever reached in a world cup recently was quarter finals in 2002 and that proves we do have potential but all of the Americans would rather watch or play basketball or american rugby (football), we always get underrated by English, Mexicans, the whole world! Can’t you guys understand! Football is the most famous sport in the world! Like I said we have potential like the way we did in 2002! If we did have support I bet you we would have been one of the best or possibly the best in the world! Who agrees with me?
Also we also made it to 3rd place in a world cup before!!! But no one really cares about this sport sadly

I think we will in time. Americans like being one of the best at the sport. Look at other sports, American Football no other country is better, Basketball US is the best in the world, Hockey US is one of the best in the world. If you look at USA Soccer rating in the last few years it has grown like crazy. What we need is more players like Dempsey of Howard who are playing in the EPL and playing well. Soccer is still young in the US compared to other sports and in time we will be better. Will it ever be
as popular as American Football, no but i think in time the USMNT and MLS can be a major sport in the United States. Look at how far soccer has come since the 70’s or 80’s. With ESPN starting to show EPL and there are Americans playing well around the world soccer will grow bigger and bigger. So will it be bigger than sports like Basketball, Baseball, Hockey, or American Football, no never. But it will continue to grow in fan base.

Hey, look how far the women’s team came this year! fans increased a lot! Just how baseball, now football, has had its reign over most popular sport in America, so will soccer. Unfortunately, currently, all the pretty cheerleaders cheer-leading for soccer players isn’t a high-school staple, so we don’t have as much emotional attachment.

Well it depends on the person. Sometimes there are other sports Out there and not enough time to eather to watch or to play it. Now i personually love soccer because i play it so it bacuallcly depends on the person and how much time you have.

I’ll bet all of your assumptions are right on- yes i’m a girl, raised by only a mother (father walked out), all women in my family, and aside from attending all the football games in high school, I don’t know much about it- I’ve really never been interested in it…ok in fact I find it extremely boring and redundant, and I think it lasts waaay too long (i’m a soccer fan and everything I’m used to watching is fast-paced and keeps me intune).

So I’m going to a superbowl house party this weekend and though I wish I could just dip in only for the halftime, I’m stuck watching that sh*t.

Help me out. Give me some pointers. Basics I get the whole touchdown thing… but uh- that’s it. Lol.

football is about 100 times more complicated than soccer. It would take about 10 pages for me to explain the game and all the rules. My suggestion is to find ESPN classic or NFL network on your TV and see if they have any replays on of any previous games. You have over a week so if you just watch a few games will most likely understand it better. When I first started watching football it took me over 3 NFL and 3 college football seasons to fully understand the game. But trust me when you know whats going on its not boring

Here are some basics to get you by..

- you have 4 plays to get 10 yards (the yellow line on the tv is the 10 yard mark). Every time you make it to that mark its called a “1st down” and you get 4 more tries. almost always the team will punt the ball on their 4th attepmt if they have not reached the 10 yard mark. They do this because if they don’t get to the 10 yard mark(yellow line) on the 4th try, then the other team gets the ball right there. This is why you will punt the ball to the other team so now they have to travel about 50 yards or so further to score. However, If you are about 35 yards away or closer from scoring and you don’t make the first down and its now your 4th down, you can kick a field goal (3 points)

- once a scoring team gets either a Touchdown or Field Goal then they now have to kickoff the ball back to the other team. And then the madness starts all over agian.

- they play 4 quarters and each quarter is 15 mins. Halftime is after the 2nd quarter. There are a lot of rules and a lot more stuff to learn but these are the basics of the game. Im currently working with my wife right now teaching her everything about the game. Stay patient and keep learning because it is a great sport to be involved with. My Wife loves football now that she understands it!

Okay, first, thank you for trying to help me, I really appreciate it. I need some help with coming up with fun nick names for my characters in my story. Not ones for, example, the name Franklin and make the nick name Frankie, but make it by his personality, and make it like Laker or something because he likes the lakers? Kit- 18, short brown hair with many cowlicks, gray eyes. Loves, and I mean loves, to box, likes to fake hit Cade all the time. Once boxed Cade, but ended up giving Cade a black eye. Cade held no grudges and was actually laughing about it. He’s usually the one to challenge Cade to do something or challenges him something to see who can do it better or faster. He’s pretty skinny, too. Usually gets into fights with boys at school who talk shit about Danny, but doesn’t tell Danny that was why he got in a fight. A good friend, but isn’t very good at comforting. He’s the one who swears every other word. he can drive, but he doesn’t like to. He loves to do magic aswell.
Rose- She’s 15, long, black hair, beautiful blue eyes, skinny, average height. She loves music, she says it’s her escape. She mostly listens to Green Day and Rise Against. She loves to play soccer and is also a female boxer. She once boxed Kit after much persuading and kicked his ass. She loves magic, but can’t do any magic tricks herself to save her life, so she likes to watch Kit or Criss Angel. She’s not very girly and moved from Massachusetts to here, so she’s a big Bruins fan. Most girls don’t like her because she is very into sports and doesn’t spend all her time at the mall or flirting with boys. She does, however, paint her nails and play around with her hair, but no make up ever touched her face except for the end of the school year celebration of moving on to a new grade. Yes they do. They are ranked as a high-performance team by the IRB. They are a second tier team along with Canada, Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Japan and Romania. They are ranked 17th in the World. They could probably hold their own against England.

Considering that there is no professional league in the United States, and given the dominance of the gridiron/Americanized form of the game there, the Americans do OK at Rugby Union.
