UNITED ODDS-ON TO BE WORLD CLUB CHAMPIONS
Paddy Powers World Club Betting
Manchester United are odds-on favourites to complete their all-conquering 2008 with the World Club Championship this week.
Paddy Power make the European and Premier League betting champions the 1/2 favourites to win the tournament that kicks off in Japan on Thursday.
English teams have yet to make their mark in the competition with neither previous representatives Manchester United (2000) and Liverpool (2005) able to lift the trophy when representing Europe. South American teams on the other hand have dominated the tournament with Brazilian clubs winning three of the four previous World Club Championships and after winning this years Copa Libertadores Ecuadors LDU Quito will hope to continue that run as the 5/1 second favourites.
Meanwhile, World Player of the Year in waiting Cristiano Ronaldo is 6/5 to score in the final should Manchester United get there whilst Wayne Rooney is 12/1 to match David Beckhams feat in Uniteds last tournament appearance in 2000 and get sent off.
Paddy Power, said: Everyone expects United to walk this but English teams have not taken this tournament at all seriously in the past and could well be open to another upset.
