Most would not have handled playing career as well as J R Angle. Most players would have in all probability to go and pick up more points, rebounds, and assists. But, Angle isnt most and he is about finishing what he started. Heading into his decisive year as a Hawkeye, Angle discussions about why he stayed at Iowa, what he has seen from the new players, and what he is working on this straw-hat.
Q: You are sort of the old vet around here now arent you?
ANGLE: I estimate. I think I will get a medal of honor of the most Prime Time jerseys or approximately like that. (giggle)
Q: You have in fact been through the good and the bad in the last few a month of Sundays with Iowa Basketball.
ANGLE: I think I have. I have seen it all and been through it all. But, I will look back at the last five as the best time of my life. I wouldnt alteration whatsoever about my know-how at Iowa.
Q: A lot of guys t have that stance in your arrangement because you refuget had a lot of playing time or been a full time tapas for a season.
ANGLE: I for eternity try to look at the constructive side of effects. I have for ever and a day looked at it as presence a team contestant and I have every time been about persuasive knockout. I just have to do my role and fill my standpoint on the team.
Q: Can you reflect back on the last year?
ANGLE: It was definitely a rebuilding year. We had an wholly new classification and I alleged that the coaches were very imperturbable with us. In this coming year, they are doubtless going to necessity more from us because we must know the coordination. The vets, like yours truly, will have a role to help the younger guys as much as we can to acquire the approach quickly. It will take some time, but there isnt any reason why we cannot be a contender in the Big Ten.
Q: What will your role be this spell?
ANGLE: Probably the same as it has been in foregoing ages. I will probably play the three and the four and all being well come in and feed a spur. I am a complete team guy, so when I am in there, I need to make sure that I am having a up impact on the game for our team.
Q: Can you compare the two coaching staffs that you have played for here?
ANGLE: I think this one is altered in that it is more related on you to get your things done. There is not as much of big name looking over your bear at . I can deal with it either one way. It is appealing laid back here and I think the guys enjoy that.
Q: A lot of guys in your situation, with good-looking limited playing time, power have taken off to any more university where they may have been more . Did you ever observe that?
ANGLE: No. I am a firm follower in the idea that if you start a little, you should quality it. In my first year at Iowa, I met so many new friends that I exceedingly liked, the group is momentous, and I am a critical training. I needed to make the most of this opportunity.
Q: What do you work on civilizing this summer stock?
ANGLE: Just . I have got my influence up ten since last year and I am seeing some improvements.
Q: You have been around Tony Freeman a lot in the past three an inordinate length of time. Were you flabbergasted that he left this spring?
ANGLE: At first I was astounded. He desired to do a bit where he would in good health himself and he saw actuality more wealthy at a broadcast that superior suited him. In the end, I think both parties are going to be happy and there wont be any hard mental state. I wish him the best, but I am moderately much driven on the guys we have on the team now.
Q: Give me a rundown on some of the new guys and what they can do.
ANGLE: The IQs of all of the guys are very high and they all know the game. They seem to take to schooling and suggestion and they are truthfully laid back guys. We have some terrific coming in and I think they have the conceivable to get their bodies to the Big Ten equal nice-looking quickly.
