UCLA athletic manager Dan Guerrero has been selected of the Division I men basketball committee for 2009-10.

UCLA athletic boss Dan Guerrero has been selected of the Division I men committee for 2009-10.

His term begins Sept. 1, 2009. Guerrero will replace current chairman Mike Slive, commissioner of the Southeastern Conference.

Guerrero is vice chair of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and chairs the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Academic Enhancement Group.

He also on the supervisory board of the Division I Athletic Directors Association, and serves on the College Basketball Partnership, a committee formed by NCAA premier Myles Brand.

“I’ve thoroughly my time on the committee and, as chair, will striving to attend, lead and embrace this great opening,” he said in a announcement.

Guerrero has been athletic leader at UCLA since 2002. In that time, the Bruins have won 17 state-owned championships in 11 unalike sports. The men’s basketball team has made three consecutive Final Four .

Guerrero graduated from UCLA in 1974. He previously was athletic principal at Cal State Dominguez Hills and at the University of California, Irvine.
