I’ll bet that if there were a soccer match on TV today they would watch that instead of the Superbowl. Why do libs prefer a socialist sport over a capitalist sport? Soccer is the sport of Europe, a socialist country where guns are outlawed and gasoline costs ten dollars a gallon and where holocaust denial is illegal and taxes eat up 80% of your income. Is this why soccer is the one sport liberals love?

	I prefer men’s figure skating myself….

	what about hockey

It’s largely irrelevant as to whether or not the sport has a socialist flavor to it.

In the end, the fans kick the living crap out of each other and, much to the chagrin of liberals, religion wasn’t the cause of the violence.

	I like polo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-yUIHJ1WVk

they prefer no injuries cause their scare of getting hurt but i thought they like table tennis more

What exactly is socialist about Soccer? I do not like either sport regardless.

I hate soccer and love football. And thanks to the candidates on the right I’m now as liberal as they come.

Congratulations. I have never seen so much misinformation packaged in a single question before.

You are marvelously uninformed.

Perhaps, by the time that you get out of grade school (through an age promotion no doubt) you’ll have picked up some actual facts.

Perhaps.

	They’re anti American

Dang well you’ve blown me away with your intelligence. I had no idea that Europe was a country!!=O this is the politics section, and no matter what our personal beliefs are we are all generally intelligent, so GTFO and ask this in the sports section or something…

Why do you insist on trolling as a fake dumb conservative? Is it because you can’t find any real conservatives who would spout such nonsense?

Don’t be a generalist. Anyway, Europe is not a country and is not socialist.

The NFL is actually quite socialist. They have a system of revenue sharing among the teams and they all get rich. Fucking commies.

‘Europe, a socialist country where guns are outlawed and gasoline costs ten dollars a gallon and where holocaust denial is illegal and taxes eat up 80% of your income’.

Wow. Europe is not a country, it is not Socialist (it’s capitalist like the US), guns are not universally illegal there, holocaust denial is illegal only in a few places, and taxes are well under 80% of anyone’s income. Apart from that, a pretty good description.

Online betting players have been treated to a few upsets in the Copa America, especially in the quarterfinals as the favorites, Argentina and Brazil, were knocked out on penalty kicks. Now it’s wide open as the final four prepares to kick things off on Tuesday, and it looks like a Uruguay-Venezuela final on Sunday.

Peru Uruguay Betting – Tuesday, 8:45 PM ET (Ciudad De La Plata, La Plata, Argentina)

Uruguay are favored at -130 according to soccer betting odds in this contest, while Peru is listed at +340 and a draw comes in at +235, and these two have had some wide-open matches since the last Copa America. Peru has won two and drawn one of their last four meetings with Uruguay, including a 3-0 romp in Mexico in 2007, but Uruguay responded to thump Peru 6-0 at home the following year. Peru held on in regular time, then seized control in extra time for a 2-0 win over Colombia, and captain Juan Manuel Vargas has been pulling the strings in midfield while Paolo Guerrero has two goals for Uruguay took down hosts Argentina in penalty kicks, with goalkeeper Fernando Muslera stopping Carlos Tevez during the shootout to lead the to the semifinals for the fourth straight time in the Copa America. Fullback Alvaro Pereira has a pair of goals, but the team also has Luis Suarez up front running the opposition defense ragged, while Diego Forlan has dropped a little deeper behind Suarez to fill the playmaking role.

Uruguay’s win over Argentina wasn’t that much of an upset, and they have emerged in the last year as one of the best teams in the world after last summer’s fourth-place finish in the World Cup. Peru’s goal has to be to slow down Forlan, but they also have to track Pereira, whose marauding runs can drag the defense out of position. Peru will likely try to hit the Uruguayans on the counterattack and take advantage of the space behind their fullbacks, but will they be able to control the ball in midfield? Uruguay will have to make up for the loss of Diego Perez, who earned a red card against Argentina, but they have the quality up front to finish the chances they receive.

Betting Edge: Uruguay -130

Paraguay Venezuela Betting – Wednesday, 8:45 PM ET (Mundialista Mendoza, Mendoza, Argentina)

Both of these teams were soccer betting underdogs heading into the quarterfinals, as Paraguay stunned the defending champions from Brazil, while Venezuela needed a late goal to take out Chile. Paraguay were aided by a Brazil team that couldn’t handle the pressure of a shootout as Brazil missed all four of their attempts. Brazil dominated the match, but Paraguay keeper Justo Villar was immense between the sticks, and as we all know, penalty kicks are a lottery. Venezuela took the game to Chile in an intense contest, and it was Gabriel Cichero’s 80th-minute marker that made the difference for La Vinotinto, who will get their best-ever finish in the Copa America, win or lose. They were the only side to never reach the World Cup, so Venezuela is essentially playing with house money because no one expected them to reach this point in the first place.

Paraguay is favored at -105 according to soccer odds, while Venezuela is rated at +260, and a draw comes in at +220, and these two may have had the best match of the tournament thus far in a 3-3 draw in the group stages. Paraguay now has two wins and two draws in their last five meetings with Venezuela, and all five games have had at least two goals, so these two may be a little more defensive considering what it at stake. Both teams have been getting goals from all over the place, which makes it difficult to mark them, but they can also sit back when they have to, and Venezuela’s back line has been marginally better than Paraguay, which is why they should pull off the sports betting upset.

Betting Edge: Venezuela +260

The sports betting odds for the quarterfinals of the Copa America in Argentina won’t be out for a few days as the group stages are wrapping up and the quarters actually start on Saturday, but that doesn’t mean you can’t look ahead. Here are our picks for the teams we think will make the quarterfinal round, and then their chances of advancing to the semifinals, which begin next Tuesday.

Colombia

The Colombians were the surprise of the group stages, winning Group A over the hosts from Argentina, and they didn’t allow a goal throughout the group stages. They’re a well organized group with a striker that should be getting more attention in Falcao, who scored a pair of goals against Bolivia. They have a good pedigree in this tournament, winning in 2001 and a fourth-place finish in 2004, so a trip to the semifinals isn’t out of the realm of possibility.

free sports picks: Advance

Argentina

The hosts should be able to beat Costa Rica in their finale to get to the next round, but they should have also beaten Bolivia and possibly Colombia, instead settling for a pair of draws. Lionel Messi is drawing fire for not scoring, but the team as a whole hasn’t been that good. Until an Argentinean coach finds a way to replicate Barcelona’s system, we’re afraid they won’t get the best out of Messi (although Argentina doesn’t have the quality of Barca)

free sports picks: Advance

Brazil

The defending champions have been brutal on both sides of the ball as they have to beat Ecuador to get to the next round, and Neymar has definitely faded under the spotlight as he was one of the players to watch in the Copa America. The defense has looked slow and cumbersome at time, and Robinho has struggled as well. The young midfield may be the thing that is holding this team together. It’s going to be tough for the champions get to the quarters, much less the semis.

free sports picks: Fail To Advance

Paraguay

Many soccer betting players thought of Paraguay as a darkhorse that could take down teams like Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay, but they missed a golden opportunity to hurt the Brazilians by losing a late lead in a 2-2 draw. They did well to pounce on the Brazilians’ mistakes, but shaky defending brought them down and now they have to beat Venezuela just to get to the next round. That defending will be their downfall.

free sports picks: Fail To Advance

Chile

Chile may be the most entertaining team of the tournament so far, and even though they need a draw with Peru to go through to the next round, they’re going to go for a win. Alexis Sanchez scored the equalizer for Chile in their 1-1 draw with Uruguay, and he is one to watch as he is reportedly close to sigining with Barcelona. Their go-for-broke style will be rewarded in a trip to the final four.

free sports picks: Advance

Peru

Peru should be sitting pretty, but a late draw with Uruguay in their opener has tem needing a draw with Chile in their next match. The Peruvians should go at Chile in what should be an enthralling game, but like many of the teams in the tournament, Peru has had some shocking defending late in matches. They’ve reached the quarterfinals in each of the last four editions of the Copa America, but again, their journey stops here.

free sports picks: Fail To Advance

Uruguay

Uruguay has to rely on being of the top third-place teams to get to the quarterfinals, and they’ve been just as disappointing as Brazil or Argentina. Diego Forlan looks like a shadow of the player who fired Uruguay to fourth place in the World Cup, although Luis Suarez has looked extremely good for his team. But one man can’t carry a team in a tournament as close as this and unless Forlan finds his form of last summer, Uruguay will crash out.

free sports picks: Fail To Advance

Venezuela

Venezuela is leading their group with one game to go, but a loss to Paraguay could relegate them to the final quarterfinal spot. In all honesty, just getting out of the first round for the first time since 1967 is a big enough accomplishment for the country, but the Venezuelans don’t have the quality to compete at this stage of the tournament, so stay away from their soccer betting odds.

free sports picks: Fail To Advance

The Buffalo Sabres spent a ton of money on off-season acquisitions in order to bolster their lineup and become a legitimate contender in the Eastern conference this season. The New York Rangers invested nearly all of their money in just one. Coming out of the All Star break, Brad Richards and the Rangers are alone at the top of the East, two points ahead of the defending Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins. Meanwhile, their next sports betting opponent is struggling just to remain in contention, as the Sabres sit dead-last in the conference with 45 points.

New York Rangers @ Buffalo Sabres
Wednesday February 1, 2011 – 7:30 PM ET
First Niagara Center, Buffalo, New York
NHL best sportsbook Line: New York Rangers - 110

The additions of Christian Ehrhoff, Ville Leino, and Robyn Regehr haven’t panned out the way that fans in Buffalo would have hoped, and now head coach Lindy Ruff has to figure out a way to maximize his team’s potential and turn things around. The Sabres play a crucial back-to-back against the Montreal Canadiens and Rangers coming out of the break, and anything less than four points will be a disappointment.

Rangers Sabres Betting Preview: New York Rangers

Whether it is the boost they received from constantly being under the HBO 24.7 cameras or just the perfect blend of size and speed combined with excellent goaltending, the Rangers have emerged as one of the league’s most consistent teams this season. Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist remains one of the top goalie’s in the NHL with a 1.87 goals against average, and his teammates are playing excellent hockey in front of him as New York ranks second in goals against. Offensive stars like Marian Gaborik and Richards have the Rangers on the verge of cracking the top-10 in average goals as well, and they will look to pick up from right where they left off coming out of the break.

Rangers Sabres Betting Preview: Buffalo Sabres

The Sabres can learn a lot from the Rangers, especially considering that they have a lot of the same pieces to be just as good. Ryan Miller is one year removed from the best season of his career, and while the concussion he suffered earlier in the season may be playing a part in it, he is still a top talent. Buffalo has a ton of offensive talent on its back end, particularly with Ehrhoff, and could be much better than 14th in the NHL on the powerplay. Jason Pominville leads the Sabres in scoring with 47 points, but the Sabres will need more help from their depth scorers in order to be competitive night in and night out.

Rangers Sabres Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick

While the Rangers have to travel to Buffalo, it isn’t far from New Jersey and both teams play the night before, so the schedule shouldn’t be much of a factor in this game. New York has been the more complete and more determined team all season, and that won’t change coming out of the break as New York looks to lock up the top spot in the East, beginning as best best sportsbook favorites in this matchup of in-state rivals.

Rangers Sabres Betting Pick: New York Rangers

starbucks tells me to list ALL work history or click "i dont have any work history to add"
what is my best bet?
If a potential starbucks employer were to look me up through a bg check and my ssn,i wouldnt be sure if they seen the job on there or not
probably not,right?
what do i do??

just put it to show work experience. people put babysitting as a job even though its under the table.

Write it down, you’re more likely to get the job if it shows it’s not your first job. Also, the background checks companies run applications through search for criminal history, not employment history.

You need to request your job that you’re working for because that would be crucial! Don’t sit and wait, do something. Also asking for your SSN is not acceptable unless they’ve got a police warrant. That number is for no one to know except trustworthy companies.

Online sports betting is illegal in the United States. Some sites will still let you do it, but your money will be at risk of being seized.

I don’t believe internet gambling is legal anywhere and it is already proven to be the most rampant with corruption and fraud. You will NEVER make a big win on line, they do.

Yes, it is Legal in Oregon:
The PASPA, as it is called for short, made it illegal for any state to authorize a sports betting business that had not been “grandfathered” in by having legalized a form of sports gambling prior to the act’s creation. Only Nevada, Oregon, Montana and Delaware have been grandfathered in.

Pick me for best answer.

It’s people like you that our country USA isn’t really that good at football, the farthest we have ever reached in a world cup recently was quarter finals in 2002 and that proves we do have potential but all of the Americans would rather watch or play basketball or american rugby (football), we always get underrated by English, Mexicans, the whole world! Can’t you guys understand! Football is the most famous sport in the world! Like I said we have potential like the way we did in 2002! If we did have support I bet you we would have been one of the best or possibly the best in the world! Who agrees with me?
Also we also made it to 3rd place in a world cup before!!! But no one really cares about this sport sadly
No one really puts interest into MLS either

I didn’t like it till I played it

I think we will in time. Americans like being one of the best at the sport. Look at other sports, American Football no other country is better, Basketball US is the best in the world, Hockey US is one of the best in the world. If you look at USA Soccer rating in the last few years it has grown like crazy. What we need is more players like Dempsey of Howard who are playing in the EPL and playing well. Soccer is still young in the US compared to other sports and in time we will be better. Will it ever be
as popular as American Football, no but i think in time the USMNT and MLS can be a major sport in the United States. Look at how far soccer has come since the 70’s or 80’s. With ESPN starting to show EPL and there are Americans playing well around the world soccer will grow bigger and bigger. So will it be bigger than sports like Basketball, Baseball, Hockey, or American Football, no never. But it will continue to grow in fan base.

Hey, look how far the women’s team came this year! fans increased a lot! Just how baseball, now football, has had its reign over most popular sport in America, so will soccer. Unfortunately, currently, all the pretty cheerleaders cheer-leading for soccer players isn’t a high-school staple, so we don’t have as much emotional attachment.

Well it depends on the person. Sometimes there are other sports Out there and not enough time to eather to watch or to play it. Now i personually love soccer because i play it so it bacuallcly depends on the person and how much time you have.

I’ll bet all of your assumptions are right on- yes i’m a girl, raised by only a mother (father walked out), all women in my family, and aside from attending all the football games in high school, I don’t know much about it- I’ve really never been interested in it…ok in fact I find it extremely boring and redundant, and I think it lasts waaay too long (i’m a soccer fan and everything I’m used to watching is fast-paced and keeps me intune).

So I’m going to a superbowl house party this weekend and though I wish I could just dip in only for the halftime, I’m stuck watching that sh*t.

Help me out. Give me some pointers. Basics I get the whole touchdown thing… but uh- that’s it. Lol.

Please help me! Please. I really do want to find it exciting- no lie.

	Touchdown = 6 point
Field Goal = 3
PAT (after touchdown) = 1
2 point conversation = 2 only after a touchdown if they dont want 1 point
onside kick = so they can keep the ball
kick return = team who led possesion before kicks the ball for their opponent turn to score
Offense vs defense
1 QB, 2WR 1/2 TE 4Offensive line to cover the defense and RB

Come over to my place for dinner. Afterwards I’ll teach you more than enough you need to know. Email me for directions.

football is about 100 times more complicated than soccer. It would take about 10 pages for me to explain the game and all the rules. My suggestion is to find ESPN classic or NFL network on your TV and see if they have any replays on of any previous games. You have over a week so if you just watch a few games will most likely understand it better. When I first started watching football it took me over 3 NFL and 3 college football seasons to fully understand the game. But trust me when you know whats going on its not boring

Read a book you have two weeks

	http://www.nfl.com/rulebook

Here is NFL rulebook.
It’s a database of anything you need to know, or any questions, as well as a broad overview of the game.

This should definitely answer any questions you have.

Hope this helps

Here are some basics to get you by..

- you have 4 plays to get 10 yards (the yellow line on the tv is the 10 yard mark). Every time you make it to that mark its called a “1st down” and you get 4 more tries. almost always the team will punt the ball on their 4th attepmt if they have not reached the 10 yard mark. They do this because if they don’t get to the 10 yard mark(yellow line) on the 4th try, then the other team gets the ball right there. This is why you will punt the ball to the other team so now they have to travel about 50 yards or so further to score. However, If you are about 35 yards away or closer from scoring and you don’t make the first down and its now your 4th down, you can kick a field goal (3 points)

- once a scoring team gets either a Touchdown or Field Goal then they now have to kickoff the ball back to the other team. And then the madness starts all over agian.

- they play 4 quarters and each quarter is 15 mins. Halftime is after the 2nd quarter. There are a lot of rules and a lot more stuff to learn but these are the basics of the game. Im currently working with my wife right now teaching her everything about the game. Stay patient and keep learning because it is a great sport to be involved with. My Wife loves football now that she understands it!

Good Luck!

-

If you want to have a better understanding of the game of football, I highly recommend reading the following article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_football

The first choice is always the simple betting, 1×2. All the other ways of betting come second. All of the big bookmakers will do you the job. Sites like bet365, bwin…
They have millions of users and an easy to use interface.

freesportsbet.com is very user friendly. It is add supported so yes it’s absolutely free. The only catch is that they give you $0.50 to start out with and you build up from there. Once you reach a certain amount, you can pay out and they’ll send you a check for whatever amount of your primary balance you want to take out. The “moneyline” bets are what you’ll want to take as they are straight up bets. They also have numerous contests daily that you can win more money on. You enter those by using the money you’ve earned. I like this site because you can see what percentage other members are taking on matches/games.
